Sparkman & Stephens designed Deb 33 - "Maratu"
 
Built by Tyler Boat Co. in 1970. Fitted out and finished by Deacons Boatyard Ltd, Southampton.
Maratu, has had meticulous owners who have continuously improved and updated her. 
 
Construction
Blue GRP hull with gold cove line repainted 2026, resprayed in midnight blue Awlgrip in 2010. Teak toe rail. White GRP superstructure with painted non-slip to decks. Long shallow keel with lifting bronze centre-plate. Skeg hung rudder. Wheel steering (2020). Aft self draining cockpit. 2020 insurance survey. In 2009, the hull was resprayed, standing rigging and guard wire replaced. All ports removed and resealed. Deck hatches added, new exhaust system fitted, 12v system rewired, mast refurbished and rewired, new electronics added, and mains power fitted. This winter (2026) the centre-plate was removed, serviced and reinstalled with new cable and winch improvements and works extremely easily.
 
Accommodation
The accommodation offers up to six berths in two cabins. V berth forward. Separate heads to port with electric marine toilet and holding tank (2025). In saloon, L shaped dinette to port, converting to double berth, with single settee berth opposite. Saloon and Heads repainted and varnished (2025). Fold away saloon table. Chart table to port with quarter berth behind and galley opposite, repainted (2023). Two burner gimballed gas cooker with oven. Stainless steel sink with manually pumped water supply. 180 LT freshwater capacity. Refrigerated coolbox (2023).
 
Mechanical Systems
Nanni three cylinder 29hp diesel engine (new 2005). Shaft drive to two pitch Gori three bladed folding propeller.  90 LT fuel capacity in stainless steel tank (cleaned 2024) giving approximately 250 miles range at 6 knots cruising speed. Maximum speed under power 7 knots. The engine has completed approximately 765 hours from new. 
 
Electrical Systems
Two 12v deep cycle domestic batteries (2017). One engine starting battery (2017). Adverc battery management system. DC system rewired. 240v shore power system with galvanic isolator and RCD to sockets.
 
Sails & Spars
Masthead rigged sloop. Anodised aluminium mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging (2010). Backstay adjuster. Terylene running rigging (2010). Slab reefing mainsail. Lazyjacks. Profurl headsail furling system. Alloy spinnaker pole. Mast rewired 2011. Two Harken ST40 radial primary sheet winches. One Halyard winch. Lewmar one touch handles, stackpack with lazyjacks. The mast was lowered and cross trees replaced (2025) as well as further parts replaced
